Lines and Crosses

This is a short story of how the Shed helps the community.

About two years ago a woman enquired whether we could make a small wooden cross for a friend of her. He was Congolese, immigrated to Australia and trained as a Catholic priest. He was then sent to Papua New Guinea where he was to be ordained as a priest.

I took the task on and made two versions. To get the texture I used wood from a twenty year old fence that was to be dumped. She loved the thicker one, I made a small leather bag for it and mounted the small one on a little base. I gave them both to her and they were sent to PNG to her friend.

Denis Hale then helped me to make another twenty of them to give to the family when one of our members passes away.

The Shed makes and repairs hundreds of items every year. Another example is the toy washing lines below.
