The Wynnum Manly and District Men's Shed is an organisation dedicated to helping improve men's mental health as well as caring for the social welfare of its members. This is done by offering a diversity of activities that members can participate in. Also, by engaging in interesting and beneficial projects for the community even our most committed hermits are happy to participante in.
The Wynnum Manly and District Men's Shed is the hub of our operations and for the past 5 years it has been situated on the beautiful Esplanade at 59 Granada St Wynnum. It grew so rapidly in popularity it is now housed in three pavilions which contains not only traditional equipment but also the most modern machinery to cater to the exceptional skills and abilities of our members.
The first pavilion houses the computer workstations, 3D printer, library, kitchen and social areas which includes card tables, DVD'S, TV, guitars and a snooker table.
The woodwork pavilion and the metalwork pavilion contain the most remarkable equipment which is purchased by The Men's Shed.
The CNC Laser Cutter is exceptional in producing multiple copies of a desired product. No more endless cutting and sawing. The laser cutter can 'whip out' a quick hundred while you enjoy a liesurely coffee with your mates.
Its big brother, the CNC Router produces larger cut-outs such as large signs or the Santa's, reindeer and sleighs that you have seen decorating people's yards at Christmas time.
For metal work enthusiasts the CNC Plasma Cutter will cut through solid steel with a laser beam. It's great for cutting out usable metal shapes for building. Exciting aren't they?
Lessons and advice is readily given in the use of all machines.
Drop in for a tour 8am to 12.00 Monday to Saturday.
Visit on Monday 11am and join us for our weekly two course meal for only $7. On Wednesday 11am it's the weekly sausage sizzle 'with the lot' when social activities such as cards and snooker are also played. Come along and join us.
The concept of Men's Sheds was an initiative to improve men's mental health by enticing them out of their house and getting active both at the Men's Shed and in the community. The Wynnum Manly and District Men's Shed offers wholehearted support for these ideals and its members are always willing to 'lend an ear' or a helping hand in support of their mates.
