Invisible Shed members?

To all of you “Invisible” shed members…Yes, you! The shed needs you…. as much as you perhaps need the shed.

Did you know that nearly three quarters of the members rarely or never, are seen at the shed?

We know that family, work, leisure etc. all take much of your time but we need you to participate for the benefit to yourself and for others – but not onerously (i.e. it's not a chore)

What about making a personal time commitment to the shed – say 24 hours a year (2 hours a month)?

So what would you do in the shed when you come?

  • Say hello

  • Talk with someone

  • Better still, listen to someone

  • Make a coffee

  • Read something

  • Play Cards/Pool

  • Watch the work in the woodwork or metalwork sheds

  • Ask if someone wants a hand

  • Ask for some help with your project or problem

  • Try something you have never done before…. welding, woodworking, cooking, glass cutting,

  • computer/laser printing. Stuff it up and try again.

If you feel really active, try…

  • Sweep/clean something. There is plenty to do all the time – ask or just jump in.

  • Gardening/lawn

  • Sort/stack materials

  • Fix back fence

  • Lubricate roller doors etc

  • Cut firewood

  • Maintain street library

  • Help prepare for Sausage Sizzles (on the prep. days)

Someone will help you decide in any case.

And……

We also need starters to follow-up new activities like…

  • Visits to other sheds, towns of interest,

  • Possible cycling or fishing groups

  • French polishing

  • Build a wind generator

  • Music group

Whatever you choose to do – or to do nothing but be here, know that you are the essential element of the shed, and it needs you and needs to see you.
